Passenger Van Safety
The 2008 2500 and 3500 Passenger Van offers the most comprehensive standard safety package ever in a GM full-size van. Features include standard head-curtain side-impact air bags,(1) Enhanced Technology Glass,(2) antilock brakes, standard StabiliTrak and three-point safety belts for all seating positions. |
 |
Antilock Brake System (ABS)
The antilock brake system (ABS) is designed to help you maintain steering control of your vehicle by preventing wheel lockup, even during hard braking maneuvers. Standard on all Express models. |
 |
StabiliTrak
The StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control System(3) helps improve stability, particularly on slick surfaces and during emergency maneuvers. Here’s how it works:
- A control module compares your steering input with the van’s actual steering arc and then, if necessary, makes quick, individual brake applications to enhance control and keep the driver on track.
- StabiliTrak automatically intervenes when it senses wheel slippage, understeer (plowing) or oversteer (fishtailing) by applying brake pressure and, if necessary, adjusting engine torque to help the driver get the vehicle back on track.

Driver Information Center (DIC)
This feature helps keep you up to date on various functions of Express. |
1 Head-curtain side-impact air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front and rear seat occupants on the near side of certain side-impact collisions. Always use safety belts and proper child restraints, even with air bags. Air bag inflation can cause severe injury or death to anyone too close to the bag when it deploys. Be sure every occupant is properly restrained. See the Owner's Manual and child safety seat instructions for more safety information. Children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat. See the Owner's Manual for more safety information.
2 ETG is part of the overall occupant protection system on passenger vans. ETG may help to keep passengers sitting next to these windows from being ejected through the glass in some, but not in all, crashes. Even with this glass, seat belts must be worn at all times. For passenger vans, use only ETG glass approved for your vehicle for replacement when damaged.
3 Standard on all Express passenger models.
